  • Marble Imaging secures up to eight launches for the deployment of future Earth Observation satellites via HyImpulse

  • The agreement between the companies sends a clear signal in support of strengthening European sovereignty

By securing up to eight potential launches with German launch provider HyImpulse, Marble Imaging is taking an important step towards building a more sovereign and resilient European space ecosystem. Marble Imaging plans to deploy 30 very high-resolution Earth Observation satellites by 2030 with the goal to offer next generation AI-supported geospatial insights for security and defence applications. The first satellite of Marble’s constellation is scheduled for launch in Q1 2027.

Securing Sovereign Access to Space for European Satellites

As launch capacities remain one of the key bottlenecks in the rapidly growing space sector, securing access to launch services becomes more and more crucial. “Sovereign access to space is one of the most important factors in being able to provide sovereign data to European and national customers,” says Robert Hook, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Marble Imaging. “We are pleased to have HyImpulse as a promising partner that offers us additional opportunities here.”

This access in combination with satellites being operated from Germany is particularly relevant for national and European institutional customers utilizing security-sensitive applications.

Combining German-built Earth Observation capabilities with German launch services can provide customers with a more resilient and sovereign end-to-end proposition. The partnership also demonstrates the strategic value of strengthening capabilities across the entire European space value chain as sovereignty in space requires more than advanced satellites: It depends on reliable access to orbit, independent data generation and processing, and the ability to scale these capabilities when they are needed.

Strengthening the European Space Value Chain

“Partnerships like this demonstrate how European launch providers and Earth Observation companies can work together to strengthen independent space capabilities. With our proprietary hybrid propulsion technology and launch services, we are proud to contribute to this vision and support Europe’s need for responsive, sovereign and economically sustainable launch capabilities,” says Dr Christian Schmierer, Chief Executive Officer of HyImpulse.

By bringing together HyImpulse’s launch capabilities and Marble Imaging’s Earth Observation technology, two German New Space companies are contributing complementary pieces to that ecosystem. Their cooperation represents an important step towards ensuring that Europe can deploy, operate and benefit from critical space infrastructure on its own terms.
